ABOUT

LAURA WILKERSON
RN, MSN FNP-C

Laura invests her life helping individuals and a variety of senior care organizations to build leadership, develop people and create teams that change the way we care for those aging with dementia.  To put it simply, she helps people navigate the complexities of dementia and equips them to care.

She genuinely wants to see people who are affected by dementia live better lives and has the passion to equip organizations to get the most out of their care staff. It is no secret that great people providing excellent care are what make great senior living organizations. While some start with information on a One-Size-Fits All Approach to dementia care, Laura digs below the surface to challenge the deeper care issues that we sometimes do not see.  Convinced that care drives the work culture and that culture determines everything else, she challenges current thinking and existing beliefs regarding dementia care to bring about a much-needed change to caring for those living with dementia. In fact, part of her mission is to make the work culture more meaningful and engaging.

Laura is a Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Advanced Medical House Calls, a company that she started in 2013 after her Grandmother became home bound after suffering a stroke and leaving her with poverty of speech and vascular dementia.

Laura is purpose driven speaker that will motivate and inspire caregivers to look at models of  care with a new perspective and equip them with the tools needed to understand why an equip staff and engaged residents, will lead to higher productivity and an improved environment.

When she is not working, Laura enjoys flower gardening and is a lifelong learner who loves to read, she lives in Michigan with her husband, son, and two cocker spaniels.

“When you are a caregiver, you know that everyday you will touch a life or a life Will touch yours.”
